What is a Certified Coder?
As a Certified Coder, one is required to pass a competency exam, and prove on the job experience. Coders are required to maintain Continuing Education Credits annually. This means we are constantly educating ourselves, going to seminars, etc, throughout the year and we stay current with billing and coding changes in the industry. When something changes within your specialty, we will let you know right away. There is a level of ethics and standards that we subscribe to as well. This means that we will not partake in fraudulent billing or other activity.
How soon can you begin billing for my practice?
We prefer 2 weeks to ensure a smooth transition, however there is normally a 30-60 day set up time for Medicare and Medicaid for electronic billing. Also, some commercial insurances may have a 2-4 week initial set-up time.
How do I get my insurance and patient payments?
All insurance checks are sent directly to the provider. Patient statements are listed with the provider's address as the remit address also. Checks and payments do NOT come to us.
What information is needed for billing a patient?
We need the patient and insurance information, description of services provided, and diagnosis codes. Once the patient is set up in the system you can send over a superbill, or medical documentation and we will take care of the rest. We can also help you customize a superbill form or "day sheet" for your specific office and specialty.
How do I get information to you?
You can use our toll free fax, email, or US Mail.
How often are claims billed?
On most occasions, claims are billed within 24 hours of receiving the required information from your office.
Do you complete patient billing?
Patients are billed once a month for coinsurance, copays, etc. They will receive a statement with your practice name and billing address to send in their payments. If patients have not paid their balance we send 2 collections letters before recommending the patient be referred to a collection agency, however this can be customized to your office's needs.
How am I billed for your services?
You receive reports monthly on the status of your accounts. Your bill will be included with the reports.
